Better use of legs, Harvard will push wearable exoskeleton robots

Release date: 2016-05-23

According to the US technology website Engadget reported on May 19th, Harvard University's Wise Institute announced that it will cooperate with Israel's ReWalk robotics company to launch a wearable exoskeleton robot.

This exoskeleton robot was developed by Dr. Conor Walsh, founder of the Harvard Biodesign Laboratory, with a team of robotics experts, mechanical and biomechanical engineers, and software engineers. Compared to other mechanical exoskeleton and exoskeleton robot sets, this device has the advantage of being lightweight and fits a small but powerful brake on the belt to assist the wearer in using the legs in a more natural way. Wearable exoskeleton robots bring good news to stroke patients, multiple sclerosis, and patients and people with reduced mobility.

Dr. Walsh said Harvard's collaboration with ReWalk Robotics will lay the groundwork for exoskeleton technology to better serve patients.
