How to create a comfortable living environment for pigs

The impact of the environment on pig production is enormous, and the environment is not controlled properly. Not only does the production potential fail to play, but it also causes many diseases. Only by giving pigs a comfortable living environment can they fully realize their productive potential. How to create a comfortable living environment for pigs? Here we introduce the environmental issues into two aspects: pig farm environment and pig house environment.

First, the pig farm environment

The pig environment is the environment in which the pigs live, including the location of pigs, the climate, the water source, and the layout of the farm.

1 farm site selection. In addition to guaranteeing water, electricity, and road links, they must also keep their pigs away from other pigs (4 km or more) as far as possible, and should not be too close to the transportation lines that transport pigs.

2. Pig farm layout. Because the disease can be brought into the herd through many channels, a farm must prevent other pigs or animals from entering the site and try to keep out the other diseases through other channels. Production areas, living areas, and office areas must be strictly separated. Sanitary tanks, changing bathrooms, shower rooms, lockers, washing machines, spray sterilizers, and door guards should be set up at the gates, production areas, and entrances to the fields. The layout of the production area is as full as possible.

3. People. As far as possible, non-off-site personnel should be free to enter the field. For employees in the field, they must also limit their work positions. They must be disinfected before returning to the field, and then change clothes and shoes before entering the production area after 48 hours of isolation in the living area. Before entering the production area, change the on-site work clothes, wash hands and disinfect, and work clothes should be cleaned and disinfected at least once a week.

4. Birds. In particular, migratory birds are the main carriers of epidemics (such as contagious gastroenteritis). They can often fly from one farm to another. Because they come into contact with the pig's feed, excrement, etc., it is easy to spread the disease. Take control to minimize the number and number of admissions.

5. Cats and dogs. Pig-raising households generally have a dog-raising phenomenon. They do not know that dogs can transmit many diseases to pigs. Wildcats may also track rats and enter pig farms. They can infect pigs with diarrhea as a result of some intestinal diseases. Parasites (eg, toxoplasma, etc.) on their bodies also threaten pigs and should be driven off in time.

6. Mouse. With a certain degree of mobility, they will not only eat a lot of feed, bite bad things, but also spread diseases such as toxoplasmosis and spirochete diseases. Rat poisons can be administered around pig houses and in every corner of the house every month.

7. Mosquitoes. Due to its rapid propagation and fluidity, it can spread some pathogenic microorganisms (such as JEV, Eperythrozoon, etc.), affect the rest of the pigs, eliminate its breeding ground, and use screens to block birds and mosquitoes in windows and doorways. The flies enter, the pighouse and its surroundings spray mosquitoes and flies every two weeks in summer and autumn.

Second, the pig house environment

Piglets are cold, pigs are afraid of heat, and pigs are not resistant to moisture. They also need clean air. Therefore, the structure and process design of large scale pig farms must be considered around these issues. These factors affect each other and restrict each other. Therefore, the microclimate adjustment in pig houses must be comprehensively studied.
