Chinese medicine injection safety risks remain high

Drug safety risks are still mainly concentrated in Anti-infective drugs and traditional Chinese medicine injections.

From January 1 to December 31, 2010, the National Drug Adverse Reaction Monitoring Center received more than 690,000 reports of adverse drug reactions/incidents, an increase of 8.4% over the previous year. Among them, there were nearly 110,000 new and serious ADR/incident reports, which represented a 16.2% increase over the previous year, accounting for 15.9% of the total number of reports; medical institutions were still the main source of reports, and their reports accounted for 84.7% of the total number of reports. The proportion of corporate reports has slightly increased over the previous year.

The report shows that the number of reports of adverse reactions of chemical drugs accounted for 86.2% of the total reports, while the number of reports of anti-infective drugs decreased by 1.6 percentage points compared with 2009, but still ranked first. Among the top 20 categories in the number of serious adverse events/event reports, there are 15 varieties of anti-infective drugs in chemical drugs; the top 20 varieties of Chinese patent medicines are all traditional Chinese medicine injections, suggesting that the safety risks of traditional Chinese medicine injections are still high. .
