US research finds that adequate sleep helps women fight cancer

Cancer is one of the terminal illnesses that threaten human life. People choose the reasonable diet structure and appropriate exercise to reduce the risk of cancer. A new study by the National Cancer Institute at the National Institute of Cancer shows that proper exercise while ensuring sleep time can reduce the risk of cancer in women.

Exercise can also fight cancer

The National Cancer Institute is one of the agencies of the National Institutes of Health. The Institute conducted a survey of 5,968 women in Maryland to study the relationship between energy expenditure, sleep time, and the risk of cancer in breast and colon cancer. None of the subjects had a history of cancer, aged between 18 and 65 years. More than half of the respondents exercised every week.

In the past 10 years of follow-up surveys, researchers have found through their research that physical exercise can reduce the risk of cancer, and sleep also has an important impact on the risk of cancer. If you sleep less than 7 hours a night, it will not only largely offset the anti-cancer effect of physical exercise, but also increase the risk of cancer.

Sleep less, have a high incidence of cancer

Although researchers are still unclear why insufficient sleep leads to an increased risk of cancer, it has been argued that ensuring adequate sleep is good for health.

The American Association for Cancer Research recently held its 7th International Conference on the topic of cutting-edge cancer prevention research. One of the research team members, National Cancer Institute cancer prevention expert McLean, reported at the meeting that in a surveyed participant, if a person sleeps less than 7 hours per night on average, she has a cancer risk. It is 47% higher than people who have enough sleep every night.

McLean said, "(through observation) the key hormones and metabolic parameters of the human body, lack of sleep seems to have side effects on physical exercise, which is why we study the relationship between sleep time and the probability of physical exercise and cancer."

Sleep is rare

Sleep experts say long-term sleep deprivation is often associated with obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, stroke, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disease, depression, smoking and alcohol abuse.

There are many studies on the effects of sleep deprivation and excessive sleep on health, but there are few studies on the relationship between sleep time and cancer risk. The American Association for Cancer Research says the new study focuses on the relationship between sleep and physical activity, pointing out new directions for research on healthy behaviors and cancer.

McLean said they are prepared to further confirm the findings and investigate the underlying mechanisms of sleep and physical activity in order to gain insight into their role in cancer prevention.
