Autumn vegetables must be calcium supplement

In autumn and winter, with the gradual decline of the ground temperature, vegetable roots are also susceptible to aging, so that the absorption of nutrients is hindered. However, late autumn vegetables are in a period of prosperous growth and are prone to calcium deficiency, resulting in poor quality and low yield, which should cause vegetable farmers to pay attention. The general symptoms of calcium deficiency in vegetables are new parts of the plant, such as terminal buds, root hairs, fertility stagnation, atrophy and death, the new leaves are often coke edge, incomplete defects, the top of the fruit prone to depression, dark brown spots and necrosis. Calcium-deficient vegetables need to master the following methods:

1. Apply decomposed organic fertilizer to supplement calcium. Organic fertilizers are rich in nutrients, which can improve the physical structure and chemical properties of the soil, increase the ability of the soil to retain water and fertility, reduce drought damage, and promote the absorption of calcium and other nutrients by vegetables. At the same time, decomposed organic fertilizers can avoid damage to the root system. Generally, 2,000 to 3,000 kilograms of decomposed organic fertilizer is applied per acre of cultivated land, and then 30 to 50 kilograms of superphosphate are added.

2. Apply proper lime to improve soil calcium. Lime is a commonly used calcium fertilizer. Applying lime on acidic soils will help increase soil pH and improve soil structure, and it will also help reduce disease, increase crop yield, and improve crop quality. The application amount of lime is related to soil type, pH, and crop type. Under normal circumstances, 40-80 kg of quick lime or hydrated lime is more suitable for each acre. The amount of lime used for sand soil should be appropriately reduced.

3. Foliar calcium fertilizer calcium. Can be used 0.3% ~ 0.5% calcium chloride spray, generally every 7 days or so spray once, even spray 2 to 3 times can be effective. Tomatoes should be sprayed on the upper and lower leaves of the inflorescence, 2 to 3 leaves. The Chinese cabbage sprays calcium when it begins to enter the ball stage. In addition, adding auxin substances such as naphthalene acetic acid during calcium spraying can promote the absorption of calcium.

4. Deep plowing and mulching to keep calcium. Deep plowing can fully ripen the soil, improve the physical and chemical properties of the soil, and enhance the ability to retain water and fertility. The use of plastic mulching can maintain the relatively stable soil moisture, which can protect the calcium and reduce the loss of calcium.
