Gherkin cultivation in the Netherlands

The cucumber fruit of the Netherlands is 14-18 cm long, about 3 cm in diameter, and weighs 100 grams. It has a crispy texture and a rich melon. The cucumber is mostly female and is mainly used for greenhouse cultivation. Unlike most exposed cultivars, it can be processed without pollination and fertilization. The maturity of the fruit is consistent, and the early yield is high. If properly managed, the yield per hectare of 1/15 hectare (1 acre) can be more than 20,000 kilograms per hectare, and 2 to 3 per thousand can be planted in one year.

Seedling cucumber seed prices are high, so the nursery should use seedlings or nutrient pods for precision sowing, germination temperature is 24-26 °C, seedling emergence 4 days after sowing. After emergence, the daytime temperature is maintained at 23--25°C and nighttime at 16--18°C. Roots and roots are afraid of phlegm, hi temperature and cold, strong aerobic respiration, therefore, we must use a well-ventilated, heat preservation, fertilizer conservation, water seepage, and strong moisturizing ability of the matrix, such as peat, vermiculite, perlite and so on.

Pre-planting and planting should be done with fine soil preparation. Each 1/15 hectare of planted manure should be applied to more than 5,000 kilograms of manure. Do small stilts, wide 1-12 meters. The standard for seedling colonization is that the plants have 2 to 4 true leaves and the seedling age is 25 days, and the planting density is 2,500 per 1/15 ha. Plant water immediately after planting.

In the field management, after 3 to 4 days of planting, a small, slow shaded water was poured to promote seedling growth. After the seedlings are irrigated, they must be watered with fertilizer. Each time 1/15 hectares of urea should be applied to 10 kg of urea and poured every 5 to 7 days. During the period of fruiting period, the concentration of 0.2%-0.3% potassium dihydrogen phosphate solution was sprayed on the leaves once a week. The relative humidity of air is kept at 80%. Within 1 week of colonization, the daytime temperature is maintained at 25--30°C, 18--20°C at night, and no more than 35°C. Reduce the temperature after easing the seedlings, keeping it at 22-25°C during the day and 16-18°C at night. Dutch cucumbers are resistant to low light and can produce higher yields in the low light conditions in winter. In the summer when there is high temperature and strong light, shade nets must be covered. If conditions are available, carbon dioxide gas fertilizer should be properly added so that the concentration of indoor carbon dioxide gas can reach 750 mg/kg, which can increase the cucumber production by 20%.
